ASE SYMBOL: DTR NOVEMBER 5, 1996 Freewest and Detector Gold Assay Results at Matachewan MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Freewest Resources Canada Inc. and Detector Resources Ltd. are pleased to announce the results of a 10-hole diamond drill program recently completed on the Camking Joint Venture Project near Matachewan, Ontario. The properties are adjoined to the south by Royal Oak Mines Inc.'s Matachewan project which, at 15.2 million tons grading 0.076 oz/t Au, is calculated to contain 1.16 million ounces of gold. Royal Oak expects to bring this into production in 1998 as a low-grade underground operation. To date the Camking Zone has been intersected over a strike length of 200 m (660 ft) and to a vertical depth of 160 m (525 ft) in 9 of the 10 holes drilled along its length. The zone averages 12.2 m (40 ft) in width with an average grade of 1.5 g/t Au (0.044 0z/t Au). Significant results are summarized as follows: /T/ Hole nb. The limited, shallow drilling completed to date on the Camking Zone demonstrates good continuity and grade over significant widths and implies excellent gold potential.
