Fortunately we have someone of Greenspan's caliber as head of the Fed instead of two-bit Congressmen. He knows how to play the politics game or would never have been appointed; so what the Fed charter says means little if hard decisions have to be made. I believe he and the Fed will act on financial asset inflation before it gets out of hand. People not being able to buy a house for a few years pales in comparison to a severe and prolonged recession such as the one Japan is experiencing.
