Headerless Hard Drive
Castlewood Systems has unveiled ORB, a removable 3-1/2-inch media hard drive that uses magnetoresistive head technology to obtain a capacity of 2.16 Gbytes and a sustained data transfer rate of 12.2 Mbps. It uses a new design, called headerless ID, to eliminate the need for disk formatting. The included software has a one-step backup that automates system disk and file backups. ORB is priced at $199.95 with one disk. Additional disks are $29.95.
