Rewritable DVD will be very significant but it won't be the only storage method for digital video. I don't think it will replace tapes in camcorders simply because it's too big. There is a reasonable market for miniature digital camcorders and tapes (or tiny disk drives) are the smallest form factors for those devices.

Rewritable DVD won't replace the large hard drives either because of their poor speed in seeking and throughput. By the end of this year, you'll probably see a new generation of hard drives using "exotic" technology like Near Field Recording (Tera-stor). These drives will be 20+ GB, cost a fraction of current drives in terms of $$/MB, and still have decent speed.

But CUBE shareholders should just hope the wheels of innovation turn faster on the data storage side, because any decrease in price/performance for data storage makes CUBE's products more appealing.
