The problem with options is the leverage. A "neophyte" may not understand the nature or magnitude of the risk being taken. There's likely to be a massive, and massively unfair information gap between the neophyte and the other side of the option trade.

The result is almost certain and probably swift. In addition to reading MacMillan or Trester or both, it would probably be worthwhile to paper trade only for a substantial period of time before deciding to match wits with the "pros".
