I think there is one motive in understanding Patti Davis that has been underestimated on this thread--the desire to make money on her latest book. She has essentially financed much of her adult life writing books that were in some way about her parents.

I also agree with DScottD that there is a strong need to reconcile and resolve relationships with parents before they die.
