Two more markets where a Gorilla could emerge:

again these are big high tech markets--at least $1 Billion,
where "winning" means establishing an open, yet proprietary
architecture which means that switching costs are extremely
high.

Building Controls: long time haven of closed proprietary
(costly) architectures offered by Johnson Controls and
Honeywell Controls. It seems like ages ago that a start-up
called Eschelon offered an open, yet proprietary architecture
call LonWorks, but it seems to have failed to take off.
This market seems ripe for a gorilla, yet I wonder why
no headway has been made.

IPhone Gateways to the internet: Red hot market, no standards
huge interoperability issues. Early entrants include
VocalTec (VOCLF) and E-Net(ETEL). Surely, CSCO and LU are
poised to enter. There will be one dominant company, ala
CSCO in routers, because companies want to avoid interoperability
issues. This surely is a market that a gorilla will dominate
Who will it be? An established company--CSCO or LU-- or
an upstart VOCLF or ETEL??
