Ibis Technology Names Okmetic of Finland as Exclusive Sales Representative for Europe
DANVERS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 1998--Ibis Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: IBIS - news), the leading supplier of SIMOX-SOI (Separation by IMplantation of OXygen/Silicon-On-Insulator) wafers to the semiconductor industry, today announced that Okmetic of Finland has been appointed Ibis' exclusive sales representative for SIMOX-SOI wafers in Europe (excluding the United Kingdom). Okmetic, established in 1985, produces a wide range of products including prime polished, double sided polished and epitaxial silicon wafers in their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Espoo, Finland.
The strategic alliance between Ibis and Okmetic will further enhance Ibis' ability to service the expanding SIMOX-SOI market in Europe. Under the terms of this agreement, Okmetic will market Ibis' SIMOX-SOI technology in Europe, complementing their existing product line of prime polished silicon wafers with sizes ranging up to 200mm. Okmetic has been a key member of the European silicon wafer community for over a decade and continues to grow to accommodate higher capacity and silicon wafer size requirements as driven by the European semiconductor industry. Ibis believes that Okmetic's significant influence and market position within the European silicon wafer market makes them an effective partner in Ibis' commitment to be a major force in the European semiconductor community.
