akidron, Everyone doing the bad thing does not mean the bad thing has any virtue.

It is nature of people in power want to interfere free market. Could you find me one economy without government interference in the whole history of mankind? The comparison between less free economy and more free one is the only existing evidence. It clearly shows that free markets have their advantages. US, Singpore and Hongkong are the most competitive economies which happen to be the most free economies.

Protecting uncompetitive business encourages more lazy people. If US had stopped importing foreign cars, you would still drive a car which will break down often and pay more. If US government had not bail out Chrysler, it would go under but competitive new business will emerge to fill the blank.

Free market is AGAINST monopoly. By definition, monopoly means not a free market.
