Let's face it, the 3Com - Newbridge Networks alliance is about the only thing that 3Com has going for them. Without NN, 3Com is a commodity seller of interface cards, modems, and low to mid range switches. In other words nothing to threaten Cisco with. Steven -- I knew COMS had a challenge, but didn't know it was as bad as you say. Fortunately, my players are CSCO, ASND, and NN --- haven't had COMS for several months as I knew USR was a hard acquisition to assimilate. Just for the sake of debate, who do you think could challenge Cisco? Do you see any mergers occurring that would have that kind of synergy? What if Lucent bought Ascend, would that do it? What about LU and BAY? How about Nortel-NN? In other words, what combination would have that sort of strength? Later -- Pat
