Hannifin-Imhoff earnings estimate:
Bill's post was accurate in all details, save one. From Russ, the Hannifin-Imhoff analyst: Yes, he thought TAVA was going to miss 1st Qtr estimates of .04. No other number was mentioned by either the analyst or Scott. Russ submitted a comment with first call only to the fact that he was of the opinion that the .04 estimate was going to be missed. Technically that does not even constitute a lowering of estimates. As Scott explains it, First Call will continue to hold to the .04 original estimate, but will affix the analyst comment to that estimate. So...neither Scott nor Hannifin put an .02 figure on the earnings estimate. Scott feels (and I agree with him) that the model upon which the earnings was based has changed considerably over time...and that the key quarter will be #2. In any event, missed estimates notwithstanding, NMS and/or other factors may be enough to override any 'weak' earnings news. Lots of times there's a near term dump either way, no matter how good or bad the earnings. Bill did correctly state that within the week, Friday, May 1st, to be exact, we should hear something about NMS status. Scott seemed fairly optimistic, but wasn't prepared to say it was a sure thing. |
