RE: 24 hour delay

Actually it was not my idea, but I liked it. I think people need a compelling reason to pay anything to join SI. A couple of years ago I lurked as a non-member for six months before signing up for free.

As much as I like SI, if I just learned of it today. I would not pay to join because I would have no idea of the 'value' it would provide me, over just reading posts of others.

I don't claim to know what to add to SI that would provide a compelling value that people would pay for (lifetime or subscription). But a low subscription fee for new members is a business model that I can better understand than a lifetime membership.

A multi-level access system may be in order with exclusive areas for each access level. The top level would be life members, and a lowest level could be a public area so all could post. The sense of community is most important and you only get that by interaction with people that 'add value' to your views.

I would like to see a SI format with all the data I can get from my.yahoo.com. That is a compelling combination for me.

JMO, all comments welcome.
