Larry, this is a job to me. It is my work. How long are you willing to spend at your job if there would be no limit to your pay depending on how good you are at it? That's the way I look at playing the markets. How much time do I spend at it? Plenty. I turn my computer on at 7:30 in the morning and spend the two hours before the market opens trying to find the plays for that day based on the hype, rumor and news that has been generated overnight. I'll have the best part of 100 emails waiting for me from newsletters and contacts in the business. I read everything I can get my hands on.

When the market closes at 4 o'clock, I'm done until about 7 in the evening when I return to the computer for both relaxation chatting or writing to friends and associates and doing more homework for the next day's work to be done. Bottom line is that I spend about 10 hours a day working my investment job which is really not very many compared to the hours I put into my business in the early days. If I were younger, I'd certainly put in even more hours.

...how long did it take you to learn all the 'tricks of the trade'?

I don't know all the tricks of the trade and probably never will. I think I learn something almost every day. I've been investing and playing the markets for about 30 years but have only been day trading with these tools for the last couple of years and so that's really the time frame of my education. I didn't know a damn thing in spite of all those years until I started computer investing.

I know this work isn't for everyone. But it beats the hell out of a lot of things I've had to do in my life to put bread on the table and a roof over my head. And a whole lot more lucrative.

Alan
