While the points you made in your response to Senator Boxer's letter to you regarding the "flat tax" were right on target, what will you do if she is angered by your emotional first sentence and uses her connections at the IRS to flag your tax return for an annual comprehensive "cash audit" (the equivalent of wearing a hair shirt) from this point forward ?

Pete. I have no fear of the IRS because I actually really try to be honest and pay my taxes that are due. I AM really good at not having alot of taxes to pay due to a large mortgage (compared to income) and most personal money is in individual stocks and efficient mutual funds. I also keep fantastic records and would have no problems with an audit other than the usual nerves. I learned along time ago the value of being able to sleep at night which comes from simple honesty. I actually could take more deductions for a home office, but don't since it isn't worth the hassle and it is nice to have it as a cushion should I ever find an error in my calculations.

The unexpected result of my "letters" is I've flushed out the Suite101.com editor for "Liberal Politics" to actually start posting like crazy in my site. Sort of like a shark feed with all the good Moneytalk regulars bleeding him out. 8)

regards
Kirk out
