Lately there have been references to the "tight-grid" as being that portion of the playa which purportedly contains the highest concentrations of pm's. Does anyone know the source of that assumption? As I recall the drilling history, the "tight-grid" merely reflects the earliest attempts to prove up the value of the playa.

My recollection may be flawed, however, I do not recall anyone placing any particular emphasis on the "tight-grid" area at the time it was established. As I recall, the starting point of the "tight-grid" area was somewhat arbitrarily chosen, with the holes moving outward to establish values. Does anyone know, with certainty, who determined where the center of the "tight-grid" drilling program should be established and what the basis was for that determination? For that matter, does anyone recall what year the "tight-grid" area was established?

Bill Maghan where are you?
