"Florida Power and Light is spending up to $25 million to prevent a computer catastrophe at the start of the new millennium. FPL said it can prevent most complications arising from the so-called Year 2000 problem. But the utility told regulators that it would be impossible to debug all of its information systems before the calendar change. FPL has identifed 28 potential problems at its nuclear plants near Homestead and on Hutchinson Island that could throw off radiation detectors, data recorders,and security access." The article does not mention anything about embedded systems, so I hope they are looking at them too. At least this utility is being honest in that they state they cannot complete all work in time.
