I usually buy for the long time horizon, but from time to times, particularly in the semi, the waters get quite stormy, that is where I try timing. If you look at CYMI, we have not gone anywhere since I first posted to this thread, as a matter of fact we are at exactly the same price, thus the philosophy of writing covered calls would have worked quite well. My typical investment philosophy is to try and buy after a basing and then stay with that investment for a number of years, raising my stop loss as the stock advances. In the last year, many stop losses have been hit, which indicates to me a change in the market environment ( for instance, I was stopped out of COO after more than two years and from THQI after more than two years, just in the last 8 weeks).
