All - I've been looking into CKFR for a while now, been to the CKFR website, read through the annual report and financials, , read through the past 200 or so posts here, etc. and I like what I see. The things that attract me to CKFR are their market share and the fact that they seem to make their money off of millions of routine, almost invisible transactions that take place every day in a field that is growing rapidly.
Since they operate behind the scenes, I'm having some trouble figuring out exactly how they make their money. I'd like to know, Peter Lynch style, if they currently make money from services provided to me now or in the near future. Here's the deal - I currently bank with a bank that "signed" on with CKFR in 1997 and is also a part-owner of Integrion. Currently, I take advantage of automatic or touch-tone transactions that are free to me. For example, I have 2 or 3 bills (like my telephone bill) paid automatically on a monthly basis. Also, I have money automatically tranferred from my bank to my brokerage on a monthly basis. Also, sometimes I make touch-tone transactions between by bank accounts or between by bank and my broker. Is CKFR involved in these transactions? If yes, how do they get paid and how much are they paid?
In addition to touch-tone transactions, my bank offers on-line banking for free. Is CKFR involved in providing this service? If yes, how do they get paid and how much are they paid?
Also, my bank offers online bill paying for $5.95/mo. I don't do this now because some bills are paid for free, and I'm not sure it's worth $6/mo. to pay a few other bills this way. But even so, I might do this in the future and I'm sure others do now. If I do, will CKFR be involved in these transactions? If yes, how will they be paid and how much will they be paid?
I hope someone can answer these questions for me. Thanks in advance of indulging me. |
