That beach clean-up day sounds like a great idea, Michael. Thanks very much for helping out!!
It is really hard to justify sitting around on the computer when it is so beautiful outside as it is in spring. I can SEE the outside from where I am sitting, but that is really different from being there. I am leaving in a minute to go enjoy the morning, though.
I am not an authority on Jane Fonda. She was the subject of several discussions over on the Boink thread, and some people there say that she has acknowledged she was wrong in some of her anti-war activities, and apologized. Since I don't know this first hand, though, I don't have any of the details.
To me, though, "My country, right or wrong" is not really always very patriotic. True patriots fight for what is right for the country they love, and in an unjust war, you would find many patriots fighting against the war. And the men who were convinced the war was right, and went, would be patriots as well, because they were acting on their convictions, after thinking it all over. Not fighting because of cowardice, or hiding and lying about what you did to avoid going to Vietnam, or pretending to be a great American patriot when you are not, are the kinds of behaviors I don't like very much. Certainly, Dan Quayle and Bill Clinton are in about the same place if you look at how they evaded going to Vietnam.
If Rush Limbaugh is honest about his personal problems, more power to him. What does he talk about on his program that you really believe he is correct about? |
