>>Our consciousness is not random or volitional. It simply goes to the next place on the program.
An interesting belief. Like all beliefs it's a might hard to prove. Why not believe in Dog? You have just as little evidence either way.
>>If we accept causal relationships instead of witchcraft, fantasy and mysticism,
A false alternative. Go back to beginning logic. I don't let people sneak their conclusions into their logical premise unless I'm asleep.
>>If my entire life was determined prior to the Big Bang, or Great Escape, whichever better represents the "Beginning" it is of little concern. It is a very nice ride. Better than Disneyland. I might not be "responsible" for my actions
"If"? "'responsible' for my actions"? According to your deterministic belief system (just another goofy religion), of course you aren't responsible. No one can ever be responsible for anything in such a system. We would all just be a bunch of little organic billiard balls ricocheting about the cosmos, endowed with a peculiar self-consciousness that gives us the illusion of choice, since in a determined cosmos there can be no real choice.
Determinism is one of the most peculiar distortions of reality imaginable; it ranks right up there with the sort of radical skepticism that denies that anything can be known. You similarly argue that nothing can ever be chosen, since that would involve will, which your system denies. It is only your apriori belief that all "choices" are bubbling up from inside you already determined. Why should anyone accept this utterly unprovable belief of yours? It is no more provable than the beliefs you commonly reject. You are just another religionist, with your peculiar religion based on the apriori assumption that everything is determined. You are simply ASSUMING the "truth" of what you are arguing; this is hardly a logical proof. If you are going to make a case for your determinist theory, then do it; so far all you offer is your personal belief on the matter. |
