Well, actually, there are discs of that sort on the market. "10,000 Shareware Programs for $50!!"

They tend to be things like crossword puzzles and traceroute utilities that Joe programmer cooked up in his garage. A pretty good deal usually.

But distributing the commercial software industry's Y2K patches this way?! ...Let's just say that a "non-computer" person might suggest such a thing&#151any CS major I know would chuckle. Not a very well-planned ballgame if one were putting together a board of shills.
