Robbie: HP has said that they intend to be the Number 1 PC Co in the world by the year 2000 ( a couple years away). A few years ago they said that they intended to be in the top 5 by a certain time frame and they came from nowhere to get there. Their goals are serious and are being taken seriously by all competitors - certainly by CPQ. They are a formidable competitor and we just have to see what happens. If their success means that CPQ fails then I would bet on CPQ because the DEC deal is part of a very strategic comprehensive plan (IMHO). Also I really like the thread these days - wonder if anybody else feels the same way - the inactivity or lesser activity has kept a decent group here - yes even McCoy is a ok(sometimes) compared to some really insolent folks we have had here and I don't mean just CPQ dissenters. I do miss Steve and Mohan and Leo and others who have graced this thread over the past year. Ready for liftoff! KAD
