AlanB and ALL: Anyone notice that Brinker's level of cautiousness on Moneytalk rose significantly two weeks ago when he said he started reading Andy Grove's book "Only the Paranoid Survive".?: Anyone get the feeling Brinker kind of idolizes Andy Grove ? ( he did quote from the book on last week's program). I raise these points because, except for speculation on a few internet stocks, what has really changed these past few weeks. We still have slow growth, 10% growth in M3, 69-70% Bullish Advisors (which Brinker said in and of itself would not trigger a Bear Market), low inflation with a low inflation outlook, and low interest rates with a possible slowdown coming in later this year which could lower interest rates more. So what has changed so significantly to warrant Brinker's sudden rise in cautiousness and how can he suddenly see out to 4Q98 as a possible inflection point in the market at the same time he asserts he can't see past this spring ? Is he working at being "paranoid" ?? Hmmmm. P
