Skeeter B., I quite disagree with you on Steve Forbes. I regard him as having several qualities notably absent in most politicians; an understanding of economics, principle, and just maybe the ability to execute in the unlikely event he might get elected. To suggest he is merely trying to cut his personal taxes is, I think, a slander promoted with no small success by folks of questionable parentage.

The economist-impersonator largely responsible for what is wrong here today once made a very astute observation: "The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed, the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist. Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back." My guess is that the same influences trickle down to most of us, though as very weak beer.

As near as I can tell, Forbes hears academic scribblers just now becoming emergent such as Hayek, von Mises, Friedman, James Buchanan, Epstein, and their sort. Were their suggestions enacted I am confident the young and unborn would see a more civil, therefore prosperous society.

Anyway, if you dig considerably deeper in to what Forbes is promoting there is a possibility you might change your opinion, support wholesome changes, and enhance your portfolio years down the road.

Cordially,

Geo.
