I think many have waited for newer technology before purchasing a laser and that has hurt Visx's and Summit's sales. However, I think Visx has a very good shot at converting many fence sitters with their new STAR S2. Ablation profiles are supposedly the smoothest of all known manufacturers and it treats out to a much greater area (I can't recall how many millimeters, but more than the 6mm of the initial model.) And it supposedly does an excellent job treating hyperobia.
