This is a frightening thought. I hope you aren't saying this just to scare us. You state this with such assurance and implied understanding of P/E ratios and their historic relevance - I am perplexed as to why you are not then alarmed at the other 5451 companies in the Nasdaq that are selling on average at a P/E of 82.26 (excluding Intel).

My main point here is that if you are using P/E ratios for valuation purposes - you can't use it in a way that applies only to one company and convince people that it has some relevance. Even if you decided to apply your valuations based on the history of a sector of the market - in this case there are maybe three but probably no more than ten companies that designs, develops, and manufactures mpu's - is akin to drawing statistical conlusions about Willie Mays's future baseball prowess after his first twenty at bats.
