The way that the funds are going into the well known large cap high tech names (such as make up MSH) indicates to me that these issues may
be taking on a different role. That is, the funds are starting to treat these as cyclical type stocks since the cyclical stocks are currently receiving fund flows.

Also as you suggest funds are obligated into the large cap stocks because of liquidity. Another likelihood is that a large IRA fund flow (esp. with the new Roth IRAs went funds which then naturally flows into the large caps)
