Newbridge's Matthews sells 201,700 shares

Terence Matthews, chairman of Newbridge Networks Corp., raised more than US$13 million by selling 201,700 shares for between US$66 and US$68.75 each, according to the Ontario Securities Commission insider trading report. He still holds more than 20 million shares.
Other transactions, after August unless noted, include: Allelix Biopharmaceuticals Inc. -- Allpharmix Inc., which holds more than 10%, sold 150,000 shares for $21.50 each to hold 1.2 million. Asia Minerals Corp. -- Royal Oak Mines Inc., which holds more than 10%, exercised 1.6 million options for 50> each to hold 8.7 million shares. Band-Ore Resources Ltd. -- Richard Hughes, director, bought 10,000 shares for $10.75 each and sold 150,200 for $9.88 to $13 each to hold 76,800 directly and indirectly. CANADIAN NATURAL RESOURCES LTD. -- FMR Corp., which holds more than 10%, bought 853,000 shares for around US$21 each to hold 9.8 million. CRESTAR ENERGY INC. -- Dow Chemicals Canada Inc., which holds more than 10%, sold one million shares for $26.50 or $27 to hold 4.5 million. Horsham Corp. -- Paul Melnuk, director, sold 20,000 subordinate voting shares for $15.13 to hold 53,365. Lumonics Inc. -- Robert Atkinson, officer and director, exercised 100,000 options for $4 or $7 and sold 100,000 shares for $27 each to hold none. Five other insiders exercised between 78,750 and 5,000 options and sold stock. MAXX PETROLEUM LTD. -- Peter Whiteway, director, received 1.9 million shares valued at $1.97 each for property and sold 13,000 for $1.75 or $1.90 to hold three million. Meridian Technologies Inc. -- Norsk Hydro AS, which holds more than 10%, bought 593,600 shares for $5.49 or $6.30 to hold 7.9 million. M,tro-Richelieu Inc. -- Pierre Lessard, president, sold 108,300 class A shares for $19.70 to $20.05 to hold 141,700 directly and indirectly. NORTHROCK RESOURCES LTD. -- Victor Sutherland, chairman, sold 100,000 shares for $10.60 to hold 563,087 directly and indirectly. NORTHSTAR ENERGY CORP. -- FMR Corp., which holds more than 10%, sold more than 1.2 million shares for US$8.78 to US$9.72 to hold 2.9 million. PACALTA RESOURCES -- Ronald Netolizky, officer and director, sold 145,000 shares for $6.70 to $8.60 each to hold 2.7 million. ULSTRA PETROLEUMS LTD. -- Phillips Hager & North Investmment Management Ltd., which holds more than 10%, sold 307,100 shares for $9.15 each to hold 2.5 million. Working Ventures Canadian Fund Inc. -- Ronald Begg, president, bought 53,218 class A shares for $13.61 each to hold 85,111.
