Gene, >>>But this table really says nothing about what a company's P/E should be. (Here's your table).<<<

Market
Value Earnings P/E
__________________________________________
Nasdaq Composite $2003.3 $29.7 67.5
Intel (INTC) 127.6 6.9 18.4
Nasdaq less 1875.7 22.8 82.3
INTC

At least you got that part right. I don't know of anything that would tell me what a company's P/E should be. If you (or anybody else)ever find something that does, please let me know.

>>>You imply that this means Intel should have a higher valuation.<<<

I was hoping that you and everybody else in the world would draw the same conclusions - apparently not.

Let me give it one more shot. Here are the first twenty stocks in SI's profile section and their P/E's:

ACCL NA ACEC 360.63 ADTVI 20.45 ADLAC NA ADIC 19.87
ACNTF NA ACTM NA ADPT 12.79 ADTK 18.75 AEIS 32.71
ACLR NA ANET NA ADCT 31.65 ADBE 21.89 AFCI 73.03
AKLM NA ACTL 19.33 ADEX 13.81 ADTN 25.90 AMD* NA

And if I did this for all 5452 companies listed in the Nasdaq, yes, this implies very strongly to me (if no one else) that Intel should have a much higher valuation.

Mary

*AMD is listed on the NYSE - but was included gratuitously <gggg>
