but if I offer to buy NSCP at 25 1/16, and the bid is 25 1/16, and the order executed at 25 1/16, I have bought at the bid in my estimation. And this is a regular, not an uncommon occurence in my trading day, although my impression is that it is harder to buy at the bid and sell at the ask with Datek than it was with Waterhouse.

Barb, a buyer can certainly bid anything he/she wants. But are you telling me that you get consistent buy fills at the bid? And after your fills the bid remains the same as before?

And if this is true, then you can certainly sell just as easily at the ask?

If all this is "common", why aren't you just looking for stocks that don't move very fast, and make these trades all day long?

I guess I'm missing something here...

And if this was easier with Waterhouse, why did you ever leave?
