Starting to get into this story now. Can't wait to hear the rest.

Well the weekend was very relaxing. Weather was sunny for a change and the company was great. <gg>
Usually when we head up it's pouring with rain.

The place we went to is a resort built out of logs, overlooking the ocean. There are many cottages and condos depending on what one prefers. Very nice setting.

On saturday morning while the wife slept, my usual routine is to go golfing. The course I headed to further north island, is on ocean side and the town is basically a retirement town.
Some of these old timers have quite the story to tell given time. My last visit there two years ago I golfed with an 81 yr old man who coincidently invented the chainsaw. Totally blew me away at the time, probably because being a timber worker at one time I had to use one on a daily basis.
But this weekend introduced me to another interesting character. This was another old timer but this guy was even older a young 87 yr old. Although he had many stories to share, two in particular I found interesting. One was that he has written three short books. All about his own life experiences.
The other story of which I found out more detail after our round of golf, was of his separation from his wife of 50 yrs. This I found interesting. He asked his wife to finally leave the house after months earlier finding out she was having an affair. After 50 years who could imagine.
Our chat was going so well, he invited me back to his place for coffee and as a special gift he offered me an autographed book.
I stayed for maybe two hrs and mostly listened. Very interesting man. We talked about his wife and his experiences as an air force pilot.
Finally looking at my watch I realized it was time for me to go.

The old man and I parted friends. Probably never to meet again but he's someone I'll remember.

When I got back to my wife and our room, I told my wife of my morning.
She just shook her head in disbelief. She was amazed that someone would share such information with basicaly a stranger.

Can't wait to head back up and meet someone else. I'm waiting for Lee Majors to show up. He's got a house next to the golf course. Maybe he'll invite me in for a coffee too. <gg>
