Microsoft allegedly suggested carving up the Web browser market. Unnamed sources said antitrust officials are looking into a May 1995 meeting that Netscape founder Marc Andreessen described as ''a visit from Don Corleone. I expected to find a bloody computer monitor in my bed.'' Netscape turned down the offer and launched an IPO three months later. Microsoft called the story ''a fairy tale.''
