Hi Pat, Thanks for the Cisco-Ciena article it was most informative. I have been following Ciena and their dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) systems for a while. I am very anxious to see how this technology is developed and deployed. I was somewhat surprised to see the players that Cisco and Ciena had lined up, lets face it AT&T, Bellcore, HP, Sprint, WorldCom, and Qwest are good allies to have. I am not yet convinced that the carriers are lying in wait for this technology even though it might provide and alternative in the future. But, I will certainly be interested to see a competitive reaction or response for this announcement. I see one plus that I like, LSI Logic supplies Cisco with their ASICs for the 12000 and they are my second largest holding now! Cheers, Steve
