Fourth-Quarter Highlights

The company introduced the S3030, a fully integrated SONET/SDH OC-3 transceiver for 155Mbps applications used in wide-area- network (WAN) switching systems in Europe.
AMCC introduced its SONET/SDH OC-48 family of products targeted at 2.5 Gigabit/second transmission systems and dense-wavelength- division-multiplexing (DWDM) applications for WAN telecommunications. The family is composed of the S3040 Clock and Data Recovery Unit (CDR) and the S3041/S3042 Transmitter/Receiver Chipset.
3Com selected AMCC's transceivers and clock and data recovery unit to support SONET OC-12 (622 Mbps) and OC-3 (155 Mbps) standards in 3Com's Corebuilder series of switches. These switches are used for ATM and Gigabit Ethernet high-capacity backbone networks.
