Larry, I have never been interested in an IPO and have never bought one. Understanding that context, you can appreciate how strongly I feel about CrossWorlds when I mention that I would love for it to be my first IPO. I think CrossWorlds's value chain is an especially fascinating study because they are in the middle of the chain, not the top. Their product enables lower and higher powers to work. Without it, as an example, the back office software (the stuff of higher powers) doesn't communicate with the front office software (the stuff of lower powers at least for now.) In that sense I believe CrossWorlds is analogous to security software in that much higher and lower powers throughout the value chain rely on it. CrossWorlds software is middleware. The authors suggest that middleware is usually not the turf of gorillas, though I emphasize that they used the word, "usually." I believe CrossWorlds is definitely a gorilla candidate and can't wait until they go public. For more on that subject, you might want to look up "middleware" in the index. I'm happy to discuss this further hoping to learn from you and others.
