You are wrong about emulating the parenting style. Myself and my siblings all grew up drug free in the 60's and 70's, none of us smokes, no one has an alcohol problem. We all graduated college, two went on to graduate school. We all own our own business. We are all married and happily. In fact tomorrow is my 15th wedding anniversary and while I have on occasion considered murder, I have never considered divorcing my wife. I'd say the type of parenting style which produces such results ought to be emulated by more parents. While he was never effusive with praise or with emotion my father certainly did teach us all self reliance, self respect and the value of hard work. Not bad for a guy who barely graduated high school. Few parents teach actual values like these to their children today and that's how they get in trouble. No frame of reference. No black, no white. Just shades of grey. Very scary. JLA
