If you are working with a house that has Instinet or if you put Level 2 on your internet link it can help.

The problem I experienced with trading stocks actively was the stress factor. The first thing to go is the nerves. It's okay for younger people, for me it became very difficult.

Also, the most successful ones seem to concentrate primarily on a small number of stocks.....4, 5, 6, whatever.....and get a feel for their motion. The only real problem with them is anything news-driven, like bad earnings or whatever. Other than that, it is a nice way to make a living if you can leave the stress at the office. My office is in my home so the atmosphere crackled around here from time to time.
