CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 1998--SatCon Technology Corporation(R) (Nasdaq:SATC - news), announced today the introduction of a new telecommunications product from its Film Microelectronics, Inc. (FMI) subsidiary. The product, the FM 5040, is an ultra small amplifier or frequency multiplier that is used in cellular telephone networks. The Company has received over $750,000 worth of orders for this product from cellular telephone companies and has shipped over 1,000 units since March.

The FM 5040 is a high gain monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) amplifier that can be used at frequencies from 20 gigahertz to 40 gigahertz.
