Judith, Macker on the subject of International Callbacks. A few items that were brought up by both may have caused a bit of confusion.
When discussing International Callbacks, or Call Re-origination, it is an important distinction, when discussing an Internet Telephony company, whether the Callbacks will be done via the gateway or whether through the Traditional telco. The reason this is important for DGIV in Russia, is because if they will do it via IT, then they will indeed need the Leased Lines, like they would to offer IP calls, and Callbacks will be an added feature. The waiting period for the IT minutes and the Callback minutes, would be one and the same. However if they have an agrrement to offer 'Straight' Callbacks, then they could immediately begin offering the service. It should be determined whether the existing agreement(s) cover this.
As for Indonesia, this is a moot point, due to the following passage from the January 2nd news release. digitcom.com <<(DLD Corporation's call re-origination technology will not be marketed in Indonesia under the agreement in keeping with DLD's policy of close co-operation and compliance with national telecommunications regulatory agencies in countries where it has operations.)>>
Also, macker you are correct that these calls do not have to be to the US, they can go from any country to any country, as long as the Regulations and technology allow, but there is a drawback. The reason why Call Re-Origination is highly successful is because of the extreme difference of Originating a Call from the US to anywhere in the world, instead of Originating it elsewhere and calling the elsewhere. There is not that great a difference between most countries, due to the Lack of competition. If DGIV is not using the US as its Call Re-Origination country, then the margins are slim versus fat.
I would make an educated guess that DGIV will use the US, for that very reason. |
