I've worked with opengl libs you mentioned. The problem is the performance is more than 3db below SGI. Fast 3d graphics on intel boxes needs a specialized vid card and drivers. Still not available for linux. Also the io bandwidth of motherboards selling at 100.00 are not quite their yet. I've heard the slot 1 with bx chipset is getting there and no doubt slot 2 with zeon will be another jump. Also I've head the latest cards based on 3Dlabs glint chips are surpassing octanes. I'm researching. REMEMBER,,,,, An intEL processor is a terrible thing to infect with a borg virus.
