Sitting? Well, do you have a huge circle cut out of your bench, so that nothing gets squeezed or is constricted or anything? Or do you sit on a royal toilet of sorts, and preside over your fishy kingdom with your pants around your ankles? That would give me the advantage!!
I am not sure we are going to get to a sloppy froth. I maintain, as I always did, that the second amendment is NOT about the right of individuals to bear arms, and that no court has ruled so. I do wish the Supreme Court would take up the issue while there are some of us left to read the opinion.
As far as your points go, I can assure you that while total gun deaths includes deaths at the hands of the police, and suicides, it is an accurate reflection of the level of violence in America. Some countries do not even have armed police yet, which may come as a surprise to you. Some of England's are armed, and some are not, for example. And in Ireland it is the same. While Finland has a relatively high suicide rate, who really cares? It is still quite a less violent place all around.
We have already established, I thought, from urls that I provided last time, that your gun is more likely to be used against you during a crime, than by you. What taking guns away would ensure is that not every burglar is armed. And in fact, most guns used in crimes are stolen during residential burglaries.
So I guess if we are going to slop the froth about, we should narrow the discussion so I can do some research and drive you nuts with urls from reputable sources that will at least challenge some of your underlying assumptions. |
