Jim,

--"As you know my DVD bet is on Nimbus."

Can't fault you there. But I wasn't aware that Nimbus was a distributor as much as it was a CD and DVD manufacturer/replicator. Image Entertainment does manufacture LDs and DVDs but that is not their bread & butter.

-- "I still think Disk is playing DVD catch-up right now, as you know they have been taking a bath on LD sales for the last year."

Actually, I think DISK has been very forward-thinking with respect to DVD. They have managed a number of exclusive distribution rights for some DVD titles and as you might imagine, getting exclusivity for DVD is very hard since the volume could surpass VHS video volume within 2 years.

-- "I still think this latest run up has to do with a buy-out or merger."

It's possible. If I had to guess, I'd pick a company like Amazon.com that has huge market cap but very little in terms of revenue or infrastructure. The new Las Vegas distribution site + Image Entertainment's niche in LD + DVD would fit in nicely.

But the price appreciation could be due to people realizing DISK's potential with respect to direct LD/DVD sales over the internet.

-- "I know they are working on a distribution center but was there any mention of web business?"

Check out the last earnings report. You'll find reference from DISK management on both internet sales and how they plan to majorly upgrade their current website (they got through US Laser). They already offer online sales of LD and DVD by the way.
