Anton: First of all if your case scenario were to come to pass there's no way anyone could be prepared for the worst. I've never been much of a worrier and quite frankly I don't see our societal infrastructure crashing due to Y2K.

That's not to say there won't be ramifications such as utilities shutting down in the middle of winter. Obviously even on a short term basis that would be especially serious to the fragile and elderly in the extreme cold regions of the midwest and northeast. Just look at what happened in Chicago a couple of summers ago when so many elderly died due to power failures in extreme heat.

Though not much of a worrier I do have concerns. Terrorism and the use of germ and biological warfare concern me far greater than Y2K. Kids barely out of grade school shooting fellow students and teachers concern me far more than Y2K. I could go on but my point is keeping things in perspective and to me Y2K represents only a concern; not impending doom.

I tend to think the same as the earlier post by J Rakoci (pardon if I misspelled your name JR) in that problems will occur and they will be dealt with. I don't believe everything is going to shut down all at once. Will we see a Depression? I don't think so. Recession and a bear market is probably likely. Due to Y2K? Doubtful that it will be sole reason but certainly could be the catalyst.

These thoughts are just IMHO.
