ADSL MARKET :-)

Just a short piece to let you know how big the ADSL Market really is.. -JW-

ADSL Market

There are almost 600 million copper access lines in the world today. That figure will approach 750 million by 2001,regardless of penetration rates of alternative access technologies (Hybrid Fiber/coax, Fiber to the Home, or wireless). To offer new broadband services to residences and small businesses, telephone companies around the world will have little choice but to use them if copper access technologies reach suitable levels of integration and cost. They will.

The ADSL Forum publishes various papers describing aspects of the copper access market. Some appear here, along with a full list of publications available at the present time. These documents may be reproduced without prior permission of the Forum, although it would be appreciated if you not clip or erase source attributions. Please contact the Forum coordinator at ADSLForum@adsl.com for copies.
