Thomas, I definitely did not say anything resembling what you just said I did. I was responding to James' post, where he is saying essentially that a liberal social policy and fairness to all the people in a society necessarily lead to a downfall.
Certainly it is fact that Christian belief systems have led to millions of deaths over the last two thousand years. One could say this is a downfall for all of mankind, and the deaths are based on a need to convert people to Christianity, violently if necessary, and in the case of the Holocaust, hatred of Jews based on the New Testament.
I definitely did not say that Christianity is the worst thing that ever happened to humanity. I simply said that it makes no sense to me to argue that it is generally preferable to live in a harshly judgmental Christian world rather than any other kind, and cited history, including the positive histories and accomplishments of non-Christian societies, to prove my point.
Can you show me where I said Christianity is the worst thing to ever happen to humanity? |
