James,
Regarding QDEK, I live in Santa Monica, and do quite a bit of business in real estate here. Quarterdeck recently moved from Santa Monica to Marina Del Rey, which I see as a good sign. Santa Monica is a great community to live in, but punitive for a non-tourist oriented business. Taxes are very high, 10% on almost everything, and there are very restrictive regulations (no-growth activist driven) on building and land improvements. Marina Del Rey is much more business freindly.
Quarterdeck also seems to be getting their act together regarding software. I had one of their memory manager products a few years ago, QEMM, and the interface/support was lacking. I recently downloaded their Cleansweep product and was surprised at the improvements over their previous efforts.
Hopefully, we can read these signs as an overall change in attitude, and although I am a wetbehindtheear, buttbeenscorched stock investor, maybe this will instigate further research by a more qualified individual.
