Okay, Mark, that makes sense. I am not sure it will be well received here, but I think it is interesting to talk about. Spirituality to me is much broader than religious beliefs, because it encompasses a general respect for the spirit of life itself, in all its forms, and does not necessitate belief in one supreme God. It is quite possible to live in a spiritual way, loving and nurturing all that is around you, and generally doing good, without being religious in a traditional sense at all.
And I would agree that spirituality is often lost totally as people become blinded against common sense and brotherly love and tolerance by their very specific religious beliefs, which they then fight about with people who may even worship the same God, but believe slightly differently. |
