David, I agree with what you said except: "LGND isn't going anywhere until it starts to post profits from products that reach the market."

The market often anticipates good things (and bad), thus moving up before the news is out. We have seen this a few times with LGND already. As to an example with no earnings, check out the past 2-3 years on SEPR. No earnings yet but the stock has moved up smartly. I believe LGND will move up well in advance of a sustained earnings trend.
