I, for one, am glad I'm not shorting Amazon right now. Thought they would release the earnings after bell tommorrow but it's possible they moved it up because they feel the report is good.

Revenue $87.4 million is very good but not jaw-breaking for the shorts. Anything over $100 million would have created a full-blown squeeze IMHO, but a 32% revenue increase from the xmas quarter shows the internet pull is doing the growing and not just xmas-related buying. Increase in subscribers was impressive, but who knows how many of those subscribers are "loyal." Purchase of 3 internet companies was very smart because it lets AMZN convert their high share price into more real assets. I'd imagine they continue to snap up strategic companies.

Will be very interesting to see what the street thinks, esp. with the backdrop of this kind of general negative market sentiment.
