Chris,
When I read these verses I see that He loves the world and does not desire to cause it to perish you see only the word perish. The next verse is For God did not send His Son into the World to condemn the world but that it might be saved through Him. Do you see condemn in that verse as well. We are condemned to self destruction without the Son of God there is no question about that and I see Him as the only way to salvation but I do not see Him as looking for opportunities to condemn people and speak of the Good News that we can have freedom from the bondage of self destruction (sin) and reconciliation to a personal relationship with the Living God through Yeshuas sacrifice because He loves them. Eternal life is not everything a personal relationship now is what Paul said made everything else like dung, it is about knowing Him, that is the Good News.
